This Privacy Policy describes how and why we access, collect, store, use, and/or share ("process") your personal information when you use our Services, including when you visit our website, use Selah's AI-assisted conversational tool for exploring Christian systematic theology, or otherwise engage with us. We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you register for an account, express interest in our products, or otherwise contact us.
The free Selah tool requires a verified-email account (invite-only while in early access). We collect your email address and, optionally, your first and last name. There's no password — sign-in is by a one-time code or link. Creating an account requires confirming you're 13 or older.
Selah for Ministry (Pro) requires an account (email, name, and a password via Supabase Auth), and requires the account holder to be 18 or older. Church/Org accounts also involve roster data (Leadership/Membership roles) for members added by an admin.
Sensitive information. We do not intentionally solicit sensitive personal information (health data, race or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, sexual orientation, or similar categories). However, this kind of information may be voluntarily shared by you within a conversation — see Section 14, "Sensitive Information Shared Voluntarily," below.
Payment data. If you subscribe to Selah for Ministry, payment is processed and stored entirely by Stripe — we never receive or store your card number. Voluntary donations on the free tool are processed by Ko-fi. See their privacy policies: stripe.com/privacy and more.ko-fi.com/privacy.
We automatically collect some information when you use the Services — this does not reveal your specific identity but may include IP address, browser/device characteristics, and usage information, collected primarily to maintain security and for internal analytics.
We process your personal information for reasons including:
If you are in the EU or UK: we rely on consent (which you can withdraw at any time), performance of a contract (providing the Services you signed up for), legitimate interests (improving and securing the Service, understanding usage, marketing effectiveness), legal obligations, and protecting vital interests where necessary.

The Selah tool itself does not set cookies or use browser local storage. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to measure aggregate traffic, governed by Google's own privacy practices. To opt out of Google Analytics tracking, visit tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Selah's core function is a conversational AI chatbot, powered by Anthropic's Claude models. Your messages and Selah's responses are processed by Anthropic as our AI service provider to generate a response. The quality, tone, or behavior of responses may change over time as those underlying models are updated — we do not guarantee consistency of output across model versions.
Opting out: because AI processing of your input is essential to how Selah functions, there's no way to selectively disable it while continuing to use the Service — that processing is what generates the response. To opt out entirely, discontinue use of Selah. Free-tier conversations are never stored and are cleared automatically. Pro-tier users may delete their account at any time (see selahexploringtheology.com/pro/app), which immediately and permanently deletes stored conversation history.
Our servers and all of our service providers are based in the United States. If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. We rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, incorporated into our service providers' own data processing agreements, to protect information transferred this way.
We keep your information for as long as you have an account with us. Deleting your Pro account (self-serve, immediate) permanently removes your profile and conversation history via database cascade — this is a real, verified mechanism, not just a policy statement. Free-tier conversation content is never written to a permanent database in the first place — it's held only in server memory and is lost on a server restart, independent of any account deletion.
We've implemented technical and organizational security measures including CSRF protection on sensitive routes, rate limiting, bot verification (Cloudflare Turnstile), startup validation on required secrets, database-level access controls (Supabase RLS), HTTPS, and error tracking (Sentry). No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed 100% secure.
The free Selah tool requires users to confirm they are at least 13 years old at signup (enforced technically, not just policy). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Selah for Ministry (Pro) — any account, subscription, or payment — requires the account holder to be 18 years of age or older, or the age of legal majority in their jurisdiction if higher. Where Selah for Ministry is used with a congregation, classroom, or group that includes minors under 18, access must be provided through a verified adult leader's account rather than direct signup by a minor.
If we learn that personal information has been collected from anyone under the applicable minimum age for the tier they used, we will deactivate the account and delete the associated data. If you become aware of any such data, please contact us at arrowroot56@gmail.com.
Depending on where you live (including the EEA, UK, Switzerland, Canada, and many US states), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. There is currently no uniform standard for DNT/Global Privacy Control signals across browsers, and we do not currently respond to them automatically.
If you're a resident of a state with a comprehensive privacy law (California, Colorado, Connecticut, and many others), you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of its sale, sharing for targeted advertising, or use in certain profiling. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, and do not use automated profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. California residents may also make a "Shine the Light" request once a year regarding disclosures for direct marketing purposes — we do not disclose personal information for third parties' own direct marketing.

Some Scripture text Selah displays is AI-generated; some is a direct, real citation of a specific published text. For the direct citations, here's what's used and on what terms:
ESV (English Standard Version) text, where it appears, is AI-generated rather than a direct local citation of a licensed text.
Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek original-language text is shown only when a user explicitly opts in (Translation Compare's "Show original language" toggle) — it's not part of Selah's default output.
Feedback. If you send us direct feedback or suggestions about the Services (for example, through our contact form), you agree we may use that feedback to improve the Services without any obligation to compensate you.
Conversation content. When you use Selah, you submit messages and questions ("Conversation Content") that Selah responds to. Unlike a public forum or social platform, Conversation Content is private between you and the Service — it is never posted publicly, shared with other users, or made viewable through the Services or any third-party website. You retain ownership of your Conversation Content. We do not claim any license to sell, resell, broadcast, publicly display, or use your Conversation Content for advertising or other commercial purposes. We use Conversation Content only as needed to provide the Services to you (see Part I above for exactly how, including retention and deletion).
You are responsible for what you submit. You confirm that your Conversation Content does not violate any law or the rights of any third party, and will not violate "Prohibited Activities" below. You agree to reimburse us for losses we suffer because of your breach of this section, a third party's rights, or applicable law.
Although we have no general obligation to monitor Conversation Content, we may suspend or restrict an account if we reasonably believe its use violates these Terms (see "Right to Suspend or Terminate Accounts" below).

By using the Services, you represent that: your registration information is true, accurate, and current; you have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms; you meet the applicable minimum age for the tier you're using; you will not access the Services through automated or non-human means; and your use will not violate any applicable law. Providing false or inaccurate information gives us the right to suspend or terminate your account.
You may be required to register to use the Services. For Selah for Ministry, you agree to keep your password confidential and are responsible for all activity under your account.
We accept payment via Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover, processed through Stripe. You agree to provide current and accurate billing information and to keep it updated. All payments are in US dollars. We may change subscription prices from time to time — see "Subscriptions" below for how changes are communicated. We reserve the right to correct pricing errors, even after a charge has been made.
Your subscription automatically renews unless canceled. You authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. Billing cycle length depends on the plan you chose (monthly or annual).
New Selah for Ministry accounts receive a 14-day free trial. Your payment method is not charged until the trial ends and you choose to continue.
You can cancel any time by logging into your account and using the self-serve billing portal (Stripe Customer Portal). Cancellation stops future billing but does not refund the current paid period — see Part IV, "Return Policy," below for refund requests specifically.
We may change subscription fees from time to time and will communicate changes in accordance with applicable law.
You may not access or use the Services for any purpose other than that for which we make them available. As a user, you agree not to:
The Services may link to third-party websites (for example, Ko-fi and Tally), which we do not investigate, monitor, or take responsibility for. Use of any third-party website is at your own risk and governed by that site's own terms and privacy practices, not these Terms.
We reserve the right, but not the obligation, to monitor the Services for violations of these Terms, take legal action against violators, restrict access to any account or content, and otherwise manage the Services to protect our rights and the proper functioning of the platform.
Please review Part I of this page, above. By using the Services, you agree to be bound by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. The Services are hosted in the United States — if you access them from elsewhere, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in the United States.
We respect the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe material available through the Services infringes a copyright you own, contact us at arrowroot56@gmail.com with (1) identification of the material, (2) your contact information, and (3) a good-faith statement that the use is unauthorized. We will review and respond, which may include removing the content or suspending the account involved. Before either party initiates arbitration, we agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute informally for at least 30 days.
If informal negotiation doesn't resolve the dispute, it will be resolved by binding arbitration under the Commercial Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association (and, where applicable, its Consumer Rules), rather than in court. If arbitration fees are found to be excessive, we will pay them. Arbitration will take place in Colorado. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM WILL BE LIMITED TO THE LESSER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE SIX MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) $300 USD. You agree to defend and indemnify us against any claim arising from your Conversation Content, your use of the Services, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of a third party's rights.
We maintain certain data you transmit to the Services to operate them, and perform routine backups where applicable. You are responsible for any data you transmit, and we are not liable for its loss or corruption.
Using the Services, sending us emails, and completing online forms constitute electronic communications. You consent to receive communications from us electronically and agree that this satisfies any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account, free or paid, that we reasonably believe is being used abusively — including but not limited to automated signup abuse, excessive automated querying, or violation of these terms — with or without notice.

Selah is a tool for exploration and study, not a substitute for professional care, pastoral counsel, or your own judgment. You are solely responsible for any actions you take, or choose not to take, following a conversation with Selah. Selah and Artistyle, LLC are not liable for outcomes resulting from a user's response to, interpretation of, or reliance on any conversation with the Service.

Depending on the nature and severity of a violation, we may take one or more of the following actions: issue a warning, temporarily suspend access while we investigate, permanently terminate access for serious violations, pursue legal action (including reporting to law enforcement where there's a genuine risk to an individual or public safety), or in significant cases publicly disclose the violation and our response.
"Contributions" in this Policy means the messages, questions, and any uploaded session file (a previously downloaded .txt conversation recap) you submit through Selah. Selah has no public posting feature — your Contributions are private between you and the Service, never visible to other users or the public.
You warrant that your Contributions don't infringe any third party's rights and aren't false or misleading in a way intended to deceive. You agree not to submit any Contribution that:

We are under no obligation to monitor user activity and disclaim responsibility for any user's misuse of the Services. Thank you for subscribing to Selah for Ministry. Because every subscription begins with a free trial before any payment is charged, we generally don't offer automatic refunds for subscription charges already processed — but we review requests case by case, and this section explains how that works.
Refunds are considered case by case, not automatic. If you believe you were charged in error, or have an exceptional circumstance, contact us at arrowroot56@gmail.com or through our contact form within 14 days of the charge in question. Include your account email and the date of the charge so we can look it up — there's no packaging, shipping, or physical item involved.
If a refund is approved, we process it manually through Stripe within 5-10 business days. Stripe will automatically email you a confirmation once it's issued.
These are different things. You can cancel your subscription any time by logging into your account and using the self-serve billing portal — cancellation stops future billing immediately but does not refund the current billing period. A refund is a separate request for money back on a charge that already happened.
Donations made through Ko-fi are voluntary and non-refundable — see Part II, Section 7 ("Donations" is covered under our general terms) and Part I above.
